Arizona Agriculture Celebrates Farm Animal Appreciation Day

World’s Fastest Omelet Maker will be on hand to serve you an omelet!

ARIZONA, December 10, 2008 – Arizona farmers and ranchers will celebrate Farm Animal Appreciation Day Wednesday, December 10, 2008 with a free breakfast for 200 people and demonstrations by the world’s fastest omelet maker.

During the second annual Farm Animal Appreciation Day, agriculturalists call on Arizona families to celebrate Arizona’s healthy and nutritious food supply. By adopting a healthy and balanced diet that includes Arizona meat, eggs and milk, Arizona farmers and ranchers say, each person can ensure a healthy lifestyle.

Howard Helmer, certified as the world’s fastest omelet maker by the Guinness Book of World Records, will be on hand to cook omelets. A spokesperson for the American Egg Board, Helmer gives cooking demonstrations and has made appearances on the Food Network, Oprah, The Today Show, Good Morning America and Martha Stewart Living radio. He has taught celebrities in the art of cooking omelets. On December 10, he will teach a group of farmers and ranchers to make omelets and they will assist with preparing breakfast.

The free Arizona grown and raised breakfast will be offered to the first 200 commuters and area residents to come by Dutchview Dairy between 6:00 and 8:00 a.m.

Participants will also have an opportunity to learn more about Arizona Agriculture and tour the dairy.

“Arizona’s farmers and ranchers are hosting this event to emphasize the quality and care they provide for farm animals on modern agricultural facilities,” says David Van Hofwegen, owner of Dutchview Dairy and host to this year’s event. “If  you come out to breakfast with us you’ll make it to work or your next destination fully energized after eating a healthy, well-balanced breakfast produced right here in Arizona. Remember, breakfast is the meal we’re never supposed to miss. And I might add, milk and the rest of this wonderful meal does not come from the grocery store ?? it comes from Arizona farmers, dairymen and ranchers.”
