Border Security in Arizona: Arizona Farm Bureau Hosting Nearly 30 other State Farm Bureaus for Border Conference Today
By Julie Murphree, Arizona Farm Bureau
Curious about border security in Arizona? Just ask Arizona Farm Bureau, they’ve been living and breathing the border and immigration issues for more than 10 years now.
Maybe that’s why Arizona Farm Bureau is hosting nearly 30 other state Farm Bureaus including representatives from Texas, Utah, Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas, Florida and Ohio. The stakes are high when it comes to this issue and the concerns are even higher.
The Farm Bureau family is gathered down in southern Arizona where this afternoon (Wednesday, October 27, 2010), Arizona Farm Bureau leader Dan Bell of ZZ Cattle Company will be giving the delegation a tour of the border along where his ranch runs.
Arizona Farm Bureau Manager Liz Foster and I were given a tour by Dan earlier this year. It’s a revealing tour and lets us know the border security challenges are imminent and serious. Even more so for the Arizona farm and ranch families that live along our southern border.
Today will be an eye-opener for some states in the Farm Bureau Family, especially those that are not border states. But I love the Farm Bureau’s way of expanding their understanding and learning. Today is one of those days.
