The Discussion Meet contest is designed to simulate a committee meeting where discussion and active participation are expected from each participant. This competition is evaluated on an exchange of ideas and information on a pre-determined topic. The judges are looking for the contestant that offers constructive criticism, cooperation, and communication while analyzing agricultural problems and developing solutions. Applications are due to AZFB office by 5 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010.

The winner of the Arizona Discussion Meet Contest receives the following:
- $500 Cash Prize
- Expense paid trip to 2011 AFBF Convention in Honolulu, HI
The winner of the AFBF Discussion Meet contest receives the following:
- 2011Chevy Silverado Pickup (approximate retail value of $35,000)
- Paid registration to the 2011 YF&R Leadership Conference in Grand Rapi
- The three finalists in the AFBF Discussion Meet competition will each receive:

- A $6,000 U.S. Savings Bond and a Farm Boss Chain saw, courtesy of Stihl Outdoor Power Equipment.
To help prepare competitors for state and national discussion meets, AFBF will be hosting a series of conference calls this fall. Each call will be one hour in length and will include a speaker that is an industry expert on one of the five discussion meet questions for the 2012 YF&R Discussion Meet in Honolulu, HI and the 2012 YF&R Collegiate Discussion Meet in Grand Rapids, MI. There will also be ample time for questions and answers during the calls.
Any interested individuals are encouraged to join the calls for any or all dates scheduled. Reminders including question and speaker information, handouts and call-in information will be sent to coordinators one week prior to each call. Each call will be recorded and available on SILO and in this file after the training calls have all been completed.
