If you’re a commuter, a parent or teen it’s important to stay alert when you are on the road. Farm Bureau Financial Services, also a member benefit provider, offers the following tips to prevent distracted driving.
· Stash your phone while driving and ignore incoming text messages. Download the AT&T DriveMode app, which kicks in when your car starts moving, silences text alerts and auto-replies to new messages.
· Prepare for your trip. Take time to adjust your mirrors, plug your destination into your GPS, turn on your playlist and stash a water bottle in an easy-access cup holder.
· Manage your passengers. Put animals in a crate to make a safer ride for everyone. Make sure kids have snacks and toys. Always take time to pull over when little ones need help.
· Don’t eat and drive. Drivers who are eating or drinking are 3.6 times more likely to be in an accident.
