Health Screenings are easy, painless and non-invasive! Stroke is the leading cause of long-term disability and the leading preventable cause of disability. The good news is that 80% of strokes and heart disease can be prevented.
Life Line Screening, a Farm Bureau benefit provider, offers a discount to members who are ready to sign up for a health screening. Life Line Screening uses ultrasound technology to reveal dangerous plaque build up or blockage, a major risk factor for stroke and heart disease.
These screening include:
· Carotid Artery Disease Screening
Ultrasound evaluation of the carotid arteries that screens for buildup of fatty plaque which causes a narrowing of the carotid arteries- the leading cause of strokes.
· Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening
Uses Ultrasound and blood pressure measurements to check for peripheral arterial disease (plaque build-up) in the lower extremities.
· Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
Ultrasound is used to screen for the existence of an aneurysm (enlargement) in the abdomoinal aorta that could react to a ruptured aortic artery.
· Heart Rhythm (Atrial Fibrillation) Screening
A quick and easy test using EKG electrodes placed on the arms and legs to identify the presence of an irregular heartbeat at the time of screening. Atrial Fibrillation increases the risk for stroke by 5 times.
· Osteoporosis Screening/ Bone Density Test
An ultrasound measurement of the heel bone to determine abnormal bone mass density.
These screenings provide peace of mind or early detection…the rest is up to you!
