By Peggy Jo Goodfellow, Arizona Farm Bureau: Holiday season means holiday travel. So, while traveling during the holidays, the last thing you want to worry about is saving money…but it can be easier than you think.

When my children were younger we would try to save money by packing sandwiches and snacks.  We’d find a nice shady spot to stop for lunch and have a picnic. The kids could stretch they legs and run off some of that energy kids seem to store up while traveling.

One time we were next to a pasture with cattle grazing nearby. Another time we stopped to have lunch in a flower garden surrounded by tall date palms. Both times, lunch turned into a fun learning experience.

Now, as a Farm Bureau member the savings are easy. I remember fondly those days raising the girls and our road trips we’d take. Today, as my own girls have grown up and raised their families, I think how easy it is for us to save even if we don’t pack our lunches on a trip thanks to Farm Bureau memberships. Farm Bureau members can save time and money when they use these “travel” member benefits.
