As wildfire continues to rage across the state, our state and federal agencies are working around-the-clock to get recovery resources into the communities where they're most needed.
Last week, Arizona NRCS's State Conservationist announced that NRCS is in the middle of a special sign up period for repairing conservation measures that were were previously installed with EQIP funds. If those practices have been damaged or destroyed by fire, those producers can apply for EQIP funds to reinstall them. The deadline for sign up is July 12, 2021. Due to pandemic protocols, applications must be submitted electronically or by appointment in the office.
Before the fires, NRCS was working on a partnership with Arizona's Department of Forestry and Fire Management mitigate drought/wildfire issues through EQIP-CIC (conservation incentives contracts). That program also has a July 12 signup deadline.
All the details for these programs, including the link to the NRCS Disaster Assistance website, can be found at www.azfb.org/fire.
