By Lauren Scott, Arizona Farm Bureau Communication Intern: Whether you are a member of the Farm Bureau or not, there is an opportunity arising for you to get involved in a fun way while helping out the community! Arizona Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers invites you to run, walk or jog to raise money for the United Food Bank. This event, called The Farmer 5k, is taking place on December 5, 2015 at the Arizona Farm Bureau Building, which is located at 325 S. Higley Road, Gilbert 85296.
Participants should arrive at 9:00 a.m. on December 5 ready to exercise and have an amazing time! According to Maricopa County Farm Bureau Young Farmer & Rancher Chair and Event Coordinator Terisha Driggs, “This event is not a competitive run; we want people that are willing to walk, run or jog to come out,” she also added, “I’d love to see families, first time runners, and everyone in between.”
You heard her! Everyone and anyone is welcome!
When the run is over, breakfast will be provided for all participants courtesy of Hickman’s Family Farms, and there will be educational booths and booths sponsored by local businesses for guests to visit at their leisure.
The fundraising goal for this event is $5000, and Young Farmers & Ranchers “are hoping we can make it a success through participation and sponsorship.” Driggs said.
If you register before September 30 the registration price will be $25 per participant. After October 1, the price increases to $30 per participant, so register today to get the early bird price, and we can’t wait to see you there! You can register online here. You can also go to the Young Farmer and Rancher page on azfb.org to get Farmer 5k information.
