Study: Flavonols Slow Cognitive Decline

A recent study found that consuming more flavonols actually slowed cognitive decline in older adults. According to the study’s lead researcher Dr. Thomas Holland, older adults who consumed a serving of leafy greens every day had 32% slower cognitive decline than those who didn’t consume greens. This is because flavonols are actually a kind of antioxidant, which help to reduce inflammation in the body.
So, which foods are good sources of flavonols? Some good sources include berries, leafy greens, tea, and wine. Dr. Holland notes that the best way to consume flavonols is through diet, not supplements. Getting flavonols through foods also helps to diversify your diet as well.
