By Julie Murphree, Arizona Farm Bureau: Arizona agriculture’s annual Poinsettia delivery to the Governor’s office and our state legislators took place a few days ago. This annual tradition celebrates our plant nursery business owners that raise some of the most beautiful Poinsettia right here in Arizona. As far back as the 1980s, the Arizona Nursery Association has hosted a Poinsettia delivery to our state leadership to remind them of the beauty our farmers, ranchers and nursery owners bring to our state through our diverse agriculture.

“It’s a pleasure to show off the beautiful Poinsettia grown in Arizona to our elected leaders at this time of year,” says Arizona Nursery Association Executive Director Cheryl Gore. “It’s one of several ‘favorite’ things I have the privilege of doing with the rest of our Arizona agriculture delegation."

Gore also indicated that Jimmy Fox, co-owner of Evergreen Turf, a board member for the Arizona Nursery Association and part of this year’s delivery team, really enjoyed delivering the flowers. “He was so amazed that our elected officials and the legislators know of us so well,” added Gore. “He was thrilled by the engagement and their interest in our industry. Consumers like farmers and they like what we grow.”

This year, Arizona Nursery Association Executive Director Cheryl Gore, co-owner of Evergreen Turf Jimmy Fox, Arizona Farm Bureau Government Relations Director Joe Sigg, and Arizona Farm Bureau Government Relations Manager Ana Kennedy, presented Arizona Governor Jan Brewer with this year’s holiday Poinsettias.
