Classroom Presentations
The Arizona Farm Bureau Agriculture in the Classroom Program will be offering the below presentations in-person. To schedule a presentation for your classroom, please email scheduleaitc@azfb.org with your school name, grade level, teacher name(s) and room number(s), number of students in each class, and desired dates and times for the presentation(s).
Elementary
Agriculture Friends or Foes? (grades 1-4)
Presentation length: 30 minutes
Participants learn about insects and which insects are good and bad for agriculture. Participants also learn about some of the techniques farmers use to protect their crops.
All About Bees (grades 1-3)
Presentation length: 45 minutes
Students learn all about bees and the roles they play in the hive. Students will also learn the differences between Queen, Drone and Worker Bees and get the chance to see bees up close and personal (Don't worry, we won't bring live bees into the classroom). Apple Trees (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 45-minutes
Students learn through literacy the season of an apple tree. Students complete an apple tree craft. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
Arizona Five C's (grades 3-4)
Presentation length: 45 minutes
Students learn about the importance of Arizona's Five Cs at Statehood and today. An interactive presentation that includes the Arizona Five Cs Ag Mag and a hands-on activity pertaining to cotton (ginning cotton) OR cattle (cattle brands).
Arizona Dairy (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 30
minutes
Students will learn the importance of Arizona's Dairy Industry, how farmers care for their animals, and the importance of milk in a healthy diet. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
Build Your Own Burger (grades 4-6)
Presentation length: 45 minutes
Students learn from a giant hamburger where the items on their burger come from and how they are made. Students will create a key and use a US Map to identify the top producing state for each hamburger topping. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
Composting (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 30 minutes
Students will learn how we can reuse excess plant material and other household waste to create food for plants. Students will learn what can and can't be composted and complete a composting activity. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
Eggs (grades K-2)
Presentations length: 30 minutes
Students will learn all about eggs and the chickens that lay them.
Grow Your Own Pizza (grades 4-6)
Presentation length: 45- minutes
Students learn from a giant pizza where the items on their pizza come from and how they are made. Students also learn about greenhouses, the parts of a plant and Arizona agriculture facts. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
How Did That Get in My Lunchbox: The Story of Food (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 30 minutes
Students learn through literacy how the many items in their lunchbox got there. Does our food come from a store? This presentation helps students understand that all food starts on a farm or ranch. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
How to Grow a Monster (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 30 minutes
Students learn through literacy the parts of the plant. As they journey with Kara and Gabe they learn the strategies for producing a monster zucchini. Your students will also learn how those same strategies are used on today's farms by farmers who produce our food.
Parts of the Plant (grades K-2)
Presentation Length: 30 minutes
Students will learn about the different parts of the plant and identify which parts of the plant they are eating during breakfast, lunch and dinner. The presentation includes the story Seed Soil Sun and an interactive activity for the students.
Right This Very Minute (grades K-2)
Presentation Length: 30 minutes
Students will learn where their food comes from, hear from Arizona farmers and ranchers, and find out what it takes to produce food, clothing, and everyday items. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
The Many Hats of Farmer Jeremy (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 30 minutes
Students learn about the many different jobs that farmers do through an interactive skit performed by the students.
The Water Cycle (grades 2nd-4th)
Presentation length: 45 minutes
Students learn about the limited amount of water available on Earth, how they can conserve, how farmers conserve, and how the Earth recycles water through the Water Cycle. Students will become a water droplet and find their way through the water cycle in an engaging interactive activity.
Who Grew Your Soup (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 30 minutes
Through the story
Who Grew My Soup , students gain an understanding that all the ingredients in their soup originate on a farm. Students then participate in a veggie riddles activity. Can view virtually on our virtual presentation page.
I love Strawberries (grades K-2)
Presentation length: 30 minutes
Through the story I Love Strawberries, students gain an understanding that growing things is hard work! Students will also learn the difference in fruits and vegetables and be able to identify what part of the plant they are eating when eating a vegetable. This presentation is a great follow-up to learning the parts of the plant.
Jr High and High School
Arizona Agriculture (grades 7-12)
Presentation length: 50 + minutes (can be tailored to your class period)
Students will discover the changing face of farming and the farm. They will learn about our state's agricultural industry and the role it plays in our economy. Students will discover the changing face of farming and the farmer today. Do you know where Arizona ranks in lettuce and cantaloupe production compared to other states? Learn this and more through this interactive presentation.
Misconceptions of Agriculture (grades 7-12)
Presentation length: 50+ minutes (can be tailored to your class period)
Participants are challenged to question sources of information. Students will learn the difference between animal rights and animal welfare organizations. In addition, misconceptions regarding hormones in food, antibiotic use, organic and conventional food production, and genetic modification are discussed.
Biotech: What the Heck? (grades 7-12)
Presentation length: 50 + minutes (can be tailored to your class period)
Students will participate in discussion about one of agriculture's most debated issues: biotechnology and GMOs. This presentation will introduce students to the history and science behind genetically modified organisms and dive into the world of transgenic organisms.
Biotechnology: A Deeper Dive (grades 9-12)

This engaging presentation is perfect for those student that have already been introduced to biotechnology and GMOs. Now that students have been introduced to transgenic organisms through the Biotech What The Heck presentation, we will discuss CRISPR and the technologies that allow researchers and scientists to silence genes and make changes within an organism's DNA.
Media and Marketing Mayhem (grades 9-12)
Presentation length: 50+ minutes (Can be tailored to your class period)
This highly interactive presentation challenges students to look at where they are obtaining their information about food. Students will analyze food labels and advertising campaigns using the three means of persuasion identified by Aristotle: Ethos, Pathos and Logos.
Animal Welfare in Agriculture (grades 9-12)
Presentation length: 50 + minutes (can be tailored to your class period)
Students will learn and discuss animal welfare issues in agriculture. Is it really like what they see on TV and the internet? Current production practices and policies will be discussed. This presentation takes students on a virtual tour of a slaughter house facility.
Pesticides and their place in Agriculture (grades 9-12)

Students will learn what a pesticide is and how they are used in agriculture.
