VOTE YES ON PROP 134
Geographic Distribution Ballot Initiative
A Step Towards Fair Representation
This November 2024, a pivotal decision awaits on the general ballot – a decision that can reshape how we value every voice in Arizona.
Current Challenge: A Disproportionate Influence
In Arizona’s current system, a measure can make the ballot solely by relying on large metro areas like Phoenix to collect signatures. This often results in rural communities having their voices go unheard. Big cities should not have a monopoly over which measures get to make the ballot.
Current SignatureRequirements: |
What the Geographic DistributionRequirement Act proposes: |
10% of registered voters for statewide initiatives | 10% of registered voters from each of Arizona's 30 state legislative districts for statewide initiatives |
15% of registered voters for constitutional changes | 15% of registered voters from each of Arizona’s 30 state legislative districts for constitutional changes |
5% of registered voters for referendums | 5% of registered voters from each of Arizona’s 30 state legislative districts for referendums |
No statewide district requirement (meaning the signatures mentioned above can be collected entirely from Maricopa County) |

The Change We Need:
A Balanced Approach
The Geographic Distribution Act Proposes a transformative change that ensures ALL Arizonans have their voices heard.
Statewide Referendum: Requires 5% of qualified electors from each legislative district.
Statewide Measure: Mandates 10% from each legislative district.
Constitutional Amendment: Raises the bar to 15% from each legislative district. This initiative is not just about numbers. It's about giving equal weight to every Arizonian's voice. By diversifying the source of signatures, we ensure a truly representative and democratic process
